- Polpacci gonfi, mani e piedi freddi
- Capelli secchi, fragili, ruvidi, caduta diffusa, unghie fragili e a lenta crescita
- Pianta dei piedi di colore giallastro
- Scarsa sudorazione anche al caldo
- Intolleranza al freddo
- Addome gonfio, stitichezza

(ENGLISH VERSION)
To heal from hypothyroidism it is necessary to free ourselves from the toxins that clog the thyroid and transform into fat and pads: we start with the diet for hypothyroidism but we also need the right natural remedies
Thyroid and metabolism: a couple that must work together
There are women who are lucky enough to have a lean physique and manage to keep it that way without too much effort and too many sacrifices; when asked what their secret is they reply: “I don’t do anything in particular, it’s probably a question of metabolism. It seems like a quirk, but it is often a statement that reflects reality: in fact, the importance played by hormonal balance in maintaining physical and mental health and fitness is increasingly evident. These privileged women, who exude energy from every pore, are naturally endowed with a good level of thyroid hormones. A thyroid that works poorly, however, slows down the body’s metabolism, fluid drainage, cell turnover and even mental activities. Fortunately, however, the thyroid is an organ that can be stimulated: let’s see how to do it naturally.
If the thyroid is functioning properly, it prevents liquids and fat from accumulating
The thyroid is an endocrine gland located in the neck, which secretes the hormones T3 and T4. The first is the active form of the second, and has the task of enhancing the metabolic activity and blood circulation of all tissues, with the result of providing more oxygen and nutrients to the cells and increasing the speed of nutrient utilization at energy purposes (in practice, it is the control unit of the metabolism), thus avoiding the formation of excess fat. The function of the thyroid is in turn regulated by the hormone TSH, secreted by the pituitary gland, which induces the production of the hormones T3 and T4 by the thyroid.
Thyroid TSH: do you have a lot of TSH in your blood? Your thyroid is tired
As time passes, especially in females, the thyroid tends to become lazy and work less. The decline in estrogen, which occurs between the ages of 40 and 50, also contributes to reducing the active amount of thyroid hormones present in the body. Many pollutants present in the environment and in foods end up in the thyroid and reduce its activity. This is why there can often be intermediate stages of glandular suffering in women, even in a condition of good health with apparently normal blood values. The reference values that we read on the results of blood tests are not established on the averages of people in perfect good health, but are an average of the extreme values found in the population that underwent the tests in that laboratory. In particular, in the presence of thyroid hormone levels that are within the norm, an increase in the pituitary thyroid regulating hormone, TSH, still suggests a condition of latent hypothyroidism, which must be addressed.َ
Thyroid problems symptoms
Even without doing blood tests, there are several symptoms and physical signs that may lead to suspicion of a functional imbalance of the gland. Stand in front of the mirror and check your symptoms for yourself.
- Difficulty losing weight despite diets; tendency to gain weight on the abdomen
- Swollen calves, cold hands and feet
- Swollen eyelids and bags under the eyes especially in the morning, chubby face with a tendency to a double chin, thinning of the eyebrows
- Dry, brittle, rough hair, widespread hair loss, brittle and slow-growing nails
- Soles of feet yellowish in colour
- Little sweating even in the heat
- Cold intolerance
- Swollen abdomen, constipation
- Dry, pale and rough skin, with follicular hyperkeratosis (grainy “goosebumps” appearance), especially on the arms, scaly elbows
- Morning tiredness, drowsiness, lack of memory, tendency to depression, joint stiffness
- Increased cholesterol levels
- Vulnerability to infections, recurrent mycosis, atopic dermatitis
If these symptoms are present in greater than 5 numbers and in a marked form, it is advisable to contact the doctor for an accurate check of the thyroid function parameters. If there are at least 3 symptoms, and when thyroid laziness causes only “aesthetic” repercussions, phytotherapy and some nutritional measures can be of help.
Treat your thyroid naturally
The first warning if you decide to follow a phytotherapeutic thyroid stimulation treatment is not to exaggerate with the doses and duration of the treatment. The thyroid is a delicate gland that cannot be overstressed. The therapies we suggest here should be followed for cycles of 1-2 months, 2-3 times a year.
The plant best known for stimulating the production of thyroid hormones is a marine algae rich in iodine, common along the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, Fucus vesiculosus. To combat obesity linked to a slowdown in metabolism, use Fucus mother tincture, 50 drops in the morning, combined with hawkweed tincture 50 drops, to reduce the tendency to edematous swelling. After 4 weeks replace the Fucus with Avena sativa gemmotherapy, which has a metabolism regulating action: drink 50 drops a day for another month.
Pair guggul with gems if you suffer from cholesterol
In the Ayurvedic tradition we find another plant useful for promoting the activity of the thyroid, Commiphora mukul, known in India as guggul: it acts on fat metabolism and has anti-inflammatory action at the circulatory and joint level. It is used in dry extract capsules, to be taken before meals for a month, in addition to Fucus, hawkweed and oats.
With algae mud you drain localized fat
The application on the thighs and buttocks of salsobromoiodine thermal muds and marine muds, which act as “ion exchangers” and favor the penetration of minerals and algal active substances into the superficial epidermal layers, helps to combat metabolic stasis, to reactivate the slowed circulation and to eliminate subcutaneous adipose deposits. Just get a ready-made mud based on algae and marine extracts from your herbalist’s shop and apply it twice a week, in the evening, after your bath.
Thyroid and nutrition: this is how you reactivate your metabolism
To stimulate the thyroid, it is also essential to supplement the daily diet for cycles of a month at each change of season with foods rich in iodine. Let’s see briefly what they are:
First of all, the thyroid works at full capacity if you consume a lot of vegetables and fruit, and especially salads of bean sprouts, broccoli, spinach and turnips.
Among animal proteins, it is preferable to give preference to those rich in iron (red meat cooked at low temperature) and iodine (fish, algae, seafood). However, it is best not to overdo diets rich in eggs and cured meats because they tend to slow down the functionality of the thyroid. If you follow a protein-rich weight loss diet, it is a good idea to also introduce fruit and carbohydrates, except sweets: carbohydrates in fact help the thyroid hormone T4 to transform into the active hormone T3.
Avoid consuming too many fiber-rich cereals and dairy products which, taken in excess, can cause a metabolic slowdown.
Remember to fill the vitamin and mineral deficiencies that can accompany hypothyroidism with vitamin B1, iron, selenium, zinc and copper supplements.
